Dr. Omid Azadi

Post-Doctoral Psychology Resident

Dr. Omid Azadi is a Post-Doctoral Psychology Resident who provides individual, group, couples, family psychotherapy and psychological testing. He earned his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program. He has received extensive training in working with clients from a diversity of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. Dr. Azadi’s expertise and knowledge were shaped from his unique set of training experiences, including First Steps for Kids (family service center for ASD), View Heights Convalescent Center (inpatient residential treatment center) and Los Angeles Harbor Community College. More recently, Dr. Azadi completed his APA-accredited internship at Florida International University Counseling and Psychological Services (CAP) where he provided therapy to a diverse student body.

 

Through his training experiences, Dr. Azadi has gained proficiency at treating clients who present with interpersonal difficulties, trauma, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, spiritual crises, ASD, grief, adjustment issues, acculturation difficulties, and severe mental and physical health conditions. In treating his clients, Dr. Azadi uses a meaningful synthesis of evidence-based approaches that include Existential-Humanistic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Multicultural Feminist Therapy (MFT) and process-based group therapy. He also utilizes Mindfulness-based interventions and Eastern philosophies to create a holistic and integrative approach that is tailored to meet the diverse needs of his clients.

 

The working alliance between client and therapist is a primary focus for Dr. Azadi and one that he deeply values. Dr. Azadi is committed to creating a warm, accepting environment that allows clients to step into a trusting therapeutic relationship where they feel safe to explore their true self. Dr. Azadi understands the vulnerability and courage it can take to address difficult problems and psychiatric symptoms. He approaches his work with great empathy and respect for the vulnerability of the client and works collaboratively with his clients as they journey towards personal growth and fulfillment.
